The Metallic palm tree has been in the Dougherty Garden for many years. It is called an understory palm tree because it will grow in a sheltered environment, under the canopy of other larger trees.
I had the Metallic palm tree in the front of the Dougherty Garden and in the last two years, in the rear of the Dougherty Garden. It was in a protected area in both areas of the Dougherty Garden. It's not a fast grower and consistently puts out light green leaves. I recall the Metallic palm tree putting out a few seed pods but don't recall any seeds coming from the metallic palm tree.
Over the past year, I have removed the Metallic palm tree from the rear of the back yard and potted the palm tree in a plastic pot and left it in the area that it is presently growing in. I'm a little over-anxious trying to get the palm tree to be all it can be.
I have another palm tree that is in the ground and in front of the Dougherty Garden that is a bit similar to this palm tree. I'll cover that one in the next post.
