Scientific Name: Acoelorrhaphe wrightii
Common Name: Paurotis Palm Tree 12 S
Type of Plant: Mature Palm Tree
The Acoelorrhaphe wrightii (Paurotis palm tree) is a clustering palm tree. It's a very showy palm tree. I like the bright green coloration of the palm tree and its contrast with the dark brown trunk.
It's a great palm tree in the Dougherty Garden as it provides specimen for its area of the garden. It is seen from the street and is quite pretty. I have no probelm with doing the yearly maintenance with cutting those very unfriendly leaf stems with my bare hands. Even if I just cut one browned branch off duting the year, I'll find a way to get cut by the points without trying hard. It's inevitable.
It's a small price to oay for a beautiful palm tree in the Dougherty Garden.
While I was doing the cutting of the old branches, I made a video. I hope you can enjoy the fun that I have in working in the Dougherty Garden.
