I've been waiting for most of the year when I first starte to notice that the Bottle palm tree was different this year. After looking at most of my palm trees in the Dougherty Garden, you start to notice little things that are not normal. in respect to the Bottle palm tree, I noticed that there was a slight bulge at the base of the growing area of the palm tree. Each palm tree is different in the way that a flower/seed bract emerges from a palm tree. As time progressed, the bulge got slightly bigger over time.
As you can see in the above pictures, this Bottle palm tree now has five seed/flower bracts that will open over time. The first seed/flower bract was on the right and is the largest. Just this morning, the outer green wrap canme off and the seed/flower bract is growing wider with each day. I imagine that we are getting close for the flower bract to open. We'll update this post with a picture as soon as the flower bract emerges.
