Climbing Cactus N09 - Flowers of the Dougherty Garden - November 20, 2019

Scientific Name: Epiphyllum hookeri

Common Name: Climbing Cactus

Type of Plant: Cactus

The Climbing Cactus is a cactus plant that has been in the Dougherty Graden for a long time. I have yet to see a flower coming from this cactus but I believe that I will eventually will find one.

As you can see form the picture, I have the Climbing Cactus in pieces in this plastic pot. You can see from the spiraling roots that it is an air plant and using its roots to attach to a tree so that it can climb a tree for the sky. Also, it is a very healthy Cactus and any small piece will immediately put out a root seeking to attach itself and also will set out a new shoot to guarantee its survival.

Also, I made a quick video to capture the planting in the rear of the Dougherty Garden at the base of a Solitaire palm tree.
