Our day back in Yorkville, almost every block in Yorkville had a candy store. Some streets had more than one candy store. I know on 85th Street where we had Bray's Candy Store and that there was a small candy store down the street, on the north side of 85th Street and closer to 1st Avenue.
Louis Filardo's Candy Store
Filardo's Candy Store was located on York Avenue and 89th Street.

Joanne Filardo: This was my Dad’s store. It was located on York Ave & 89th St.. Next to Fran’s Coffee Shop & across the street from Jan Syl Market .. the painting shown was a gift to my Dad from a customer .. I do not recall his name . many fond memories of my childhood at the store .. My Aunt , Uncle & cousins & many long time family & friends lived above it .. Aunt Mary , Uncle Candy “The Unofficial Mayor Of Yorkville “ til his passing , Joey, Anthony, Bea, Dennis, Milton, Patty many many more. it was a great childhood! If anyone has additional photographs I’d love to see them.
I need a little help on recalling the location of Louis Filardo's Candy Store location. I believe on 1st or York Avenue and something to do with sandwiches. I need a little help with this one. Thank you.
