This picture recalls a Family Moment when the Dougherty Family and the Iacone Family lived at 28 Tennessee Avenue in Long Beach, Long Island. Uncle Johnny Iacone is standing on the the two step stoop to the entrance of what was a summer home. We opted for living in the summer home after being unsuccessful in getting a rental in Queens because most landlords looked at Marie who was pregnant with Stephanie at the time. They were okay if we had a dog but not children. I told her to tell the landlard that we wouild give the babies away and buy a dog. We moved to Long Beach and ended up being one of three families in the winter living in that section of the west end of Long Beach at the time.
The rest of the people in the above picture are Uncle Dom, who you see the top of his head on the bottom left of the picture. Just to the top of his head is the head of my mother, Katie (McGarvey) (Doherty) Dougherty. Across from my mother is Uncle Johnny's wife, Aunt Lucy, who did not give us any of the perks that were promised to us. It went to another family on Staten Island with deeper connections that we had. That family got to have their moment in time in another medium.
This was a great home for the children to grow up in as it was only a few houses from the Atlantic Ocean.
After the summer season, we still had a few weeks of swim time in the Atlantic Ocean.
I was at Uncle Johnny's parking lot near Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. He saw that I took an interest in an old Coke Storage Cooler and he brought it to me in Long Beach, New York.
