If memory serves me right, this is the NE corrner of 59th Street and Park Avenue. And, if my memory is correct, the Sugar Division was on the 14th Floor of this building. The actual full name of the Sugar Division was Pepsico, Inc. - Empire State Sugar Division Inc.
On the same floor of our building was the Marketing and Advertising Deparment for Pepsico, Inc. The Marketing Department was literally over the wall of the partition between the two department. Every once in a while, we would get a call from over the partition where we would be asked to partake in a taste survey for a new taste that they were experimenting with at the moment. It was cool being in a market study.
Working at Pepsico, Inc. was a status for a lot of people and you never knew who was going to walk out of the elevator door on any given day. The other department that we had in our immediate vicinity was that of the Advertising Department and it was run by Paul Mosely. He was in charge of the the advertising for Pepsico, Inc. One day, as I was coming out of my cubicle that I shared with Frank, I bumped into two men coming into the office to see Paul Mosely. The first guy shouted a hello to Paul Mosely in his office and the other guy trailing behind him was carrying two suitcases and was smiling. I nodded a hello to the guy and shouted to Frank, "Do you know who that guy is?" It was the guy from American Bandstand, Dick Clark.
But, other than meeting a celebrity every once in a while was the fact that we had free Pepsi Cola machines on every floor of the Pepsi Cola buildings. It was a great perk. I don't recall having free potatoe chips.
Sharing a few memories of "So You Worked in Corporate America." Enjoy,
