Top of German Pillbox at Marmaris, Turkey SYS048
Marmaris, Turkey is one of the location where the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines played war games and we had some fun on the beach. We were there for a few days and found some old Roman Turkish Baths there from 2,000 years ago. There were no showers on the beach but the Roman Baths worked ot fine but getting clean.
One of the other things that was on the island of Marmaris, Turkey were the Germans during World War II. In the above picture, I'm standing on the very top of a German Pillbox, which had several layers within the Pillbox. This would have housed a German lookout with a powerful rifle or machin gun.
That covers another edition of So You Served. Enjoy,
