So You Served - Well of an LSD Ship SYS036 - October 9, 2018

Well of an LSD (Landing Ship Dock) - SYS036

Inside the well of an LSD (Landing Ship Dock). This is what the well looks like when it is full of water in order for the LCM boats inside to float out and make a landing on the beach head. The toip portion that you see in this picture was the landing deck that stores heavy truck and other equipment used by 1st Landing Support Company, Seabees, Helocopter and the UDT Boat.

Te back is completely open after the well fills up. There are two huge metal doors that are opened up after the well fills up and allow the boats to leave the ship.
